The protruding hook atop the elbow section of the crab arm, grabs onto the bottom of your bottle cap, prying out the side of the bottle cap to relieve your thirst with whatever bubbly brew you prefer. With the hook being located close to the middle of the opener, it gives your hand the ability to leverage the opener on both sides, providing a push down on the claw while pulling up on the shoulder/keychain loop for a nice balance.
